What map should we use next?
#1
What map should we use next? It's a simple enough question, but it has pretty significant consequences. Normally I pick the map that I feel best fits our training goals while trying to balance that with being interesting. This time around however, there are several strong options. The main criteria for this map was that it was large enough for our fixed wing aircraft and is not based on Europe, as that is where our next deployment will be focused. Below I have laid out the options with a brief description and a link to the workshop page so you can check them out for yourselves. Above is the poll to vote on your favorite, please keep in mind we will be using this map for anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks of conventional warfare training.
Kidal
Kidal is my personal pick as it is by far the largest. Kidal is 60 km by 60 km and is (as far as I know) the largest map in arma. It has suprisingly good preformance due to the fact that it is basically a giant desert with a city in the middle. The Desert has hills, rocks, bushes, and vulcanic patches; so its not all just sand.

Lythium
Lythium, FFAA is a 21km by 21km map based on Afghanistan. The map features a terrian similar to FATA with a dry river bed, cities ranging in size, and wilderness. The map has normal preformance, and is well detailed and designed.

Clafghan
Clafghan should be fimilar to any long time arma player. This map features deep vallies and tall mountains simulating Afghanistan. This map is proven but was not meant for conventional warfare so it might not be the best option here.

Saint Kapaulio
This is a large 21km by 21km island map based on Indonesia. It is tropical themed and well detailed. This map is some what of an unknown to me however it is probably the most interesting and uniqe of the list. This map is the pet project of a guy who basically designed it based on donar imput, this makes the map very strange as it has the ideas of probably 10 or 15 people incorperated into it.
